Values

In his Farewell Address, President George Washington wrote “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable results…”.  President Washington enunciated what most American’s still hold true – the moral fabric of the United States is a critical component of our success.

When elected, I will continue to work to uphold and promote the traditional American values of liberty, self-reliance, and individual responsibility that have made America that “shining city on the hill”.

Common Sense Solutions:

Acknowledge that the Constitution is the bedrock on which our great nation was built.  I believe that the Constitution is clear when it says that all those powers not enumerated to the Federal government are reserved to the states and the people.  I will rely on the Constitution – and a variety of original sources (records of public debates, correspondence, etc.) – when making my decisions.

•    Protect innocent life from conception to death

•    Abolish the “marriage penalty” and other taxes that place an undue burden on families

•    Ensure that marriage remains defined as a relationship between a man and woman

•    Streamline the adoption process and support “freedom of conscience laws”

•    Work against all efforts to hinder First Amendment freedoms in the United States

•    Oppose all efforts that limit the rights of law abiding Americans to own guns

•    Require Congress to specify the source of authority under the United States Constitution for the enactment
     of laws (H.R. 450)
