National Security

The primary role of the Federal government is to “provide for the common defense” – that is to protect the American people from all enemies foreign and domestic.  As a veteran of the United States Navy, I take this responsibility of the government very seriously.  The world remains a dangerous place with dangerous people intent upon doing us harm.  We must remain ever vigilant and ensure that our men and women in uniform have all the tools necessary to protect this great nation.

Common Sense Solutions:

•    Oppose efforts to gut our nation’s defenses through reductions in defense spending

•    Expand America’s missile defense capabilities

•    Streamline the Department of Homeland Security and ensure that they have the resources needed to sustain
     their mission

•    Keep America on the forefront of defense related technological advancements

•    Commit the Department of Defense to conduct a strategic analysis with regard to all overseas bases and forward
     deployed troops outside of combat zones.

•    Support our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq and ensure they have the resources necessary to return home
     victorious
