"I say the more the merrier," Castillo said this morning, adding that he considers Heck "a good guy" and followed his work at TVW. "But ultimately this race is going to be a job interview with the people of the 3rd congressional district … The bottom line for the Democrats is this, Denny and Deb Wallace and others are going to parade up and down the district saying they are conservative or moderate Democrats. I think you see from the debate in Congress on health care there is no such thing," Castillo said.

Castillo, who estimates unemployment is running at 15 percent in the 3rd district, said jobs is the No. 1 issue for the district, and he thinks most voters do not want Nancy Pelosi as speaker and will turn to someone like him. He said his own background as Navy veteran and Bush-era appointee to the Department of Homeland Security make him more equipped to deal with national security issues that are arising since last month's terrorist incident on a Detroit-bound airplane.
