On the day before millions of people in the United States
gathered together - in freedom - to celebrate the birth of the Christ-child,
who represents freedom from sin and death for billions of people around the
world, the United States Senate, under cloak of secrecy, continued the largest
legislative assault on freedom in American history.
Liberal Democrats, lead by President Obama, Nancy Pelosi,
and Harry Reid are trying to subject the American people to the yoke of
government control -- a government that wants to have more control over our
lives, take more of our money, punish success, and deny us the opportunity to
succeed on our own merits.
Of course, I am talking about the so-called health care
reform legislation that passed the Senate on Christmas Eve -- the first vote
taken on this day in 114 years (1895). They clearly chose the day before
Christmas to avoid media scrutiny and the public spotlight that would have
otherwise shined brightly on their backdoor deals and hidden agendas.
Never in the history of this great republic has a political
party held the American people in such disdain as the majority party currently
holds all of us. These people do
not care that 55% of us completely reject the current health care proposals
(60% of senior citizens);
they do not care that more than 85% of us our satisfied with our current health
insurance; nor do they care about having to steal nearly $500 Billion from
Medicare in order to fund their assault on America's freedoms.
Our elected officials in D.C. should be focusing on reigning
in the out-of-control cost of health care, increasing access to those not
covered, and ensuring that those of us happy with our coverage can keep it. This is what they promised us and they
have yet to deliver.
Instead, for the first time in American history, we will be
forced to make a purchase (health insurance) by mandate of our government under
the threat of fine or jail time, each one of us is going to be forced to pay
for abortions regardless of whether or not we find them morally repugnant, and
we face a small faction of radical liberals attempting to take over 1/6 of the
American economy without firing a single shot.
This must stop!
I know that I am not alone in the frustration I feel. One of the quickest ways to turn a
friend into an enemy is to completely disregard their deeply held belief
regarding a particular issue or position.
This is what President Obama and the Democratic majority has done to the
American people, and unfortunately, I believe there is still more to come.
All this being
said, I still believe we will prevail because we are America. I am
running for Congress because I believe in the undying spirit of the American
people to overcome any obstacle. At a time when we face seemingly
insurmountable challenges, I know that common sense and traditional American
values can, and will triumph.
We need to elect conservatives with the integrity,
experience, leadership, and independence to put our country back on the path of
freedom. I will be that new voice
that the 3rd Congressional District so desperately needs. Join with me.
As Thomas Jefferson said, "One man with courage is a majority." We are the majority.
