Energy Independence

We remain the most innovative country in the world and are fully capable of weaning ourselves off of oil produced by countries who don’t like us very much.  However, we cannot reject out of hand the tremendous energy resources available to us here in the United States.  Our military is powered by oil – energy independence is a national security issue that must be addressed.

Common Sense Solutions:

•    Support the American Energy Innovation Act (HR 2828) that lays out a clear, market based approach to meeting
     America’s energy needs.

•    Streamline the permitting process for the placement of Nuclear power plants

•    Explore and develop the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge area (ANWAR)

•    Provide tax credits for biomass and synthetic fuels, energy efficient appliances, energy efficient homes
     and energy efficient buildings

•    Promote the continued development of carbon sequestration technology

•    Promote the continued development of coal gasification technology
