As the only son of a single mom with four kids, David grew up when money was tight and church and friends were a vital resource. He learned a special appreciation for the opportunities our country provides."In what other country can the multi-ethnic son of a single mother - raised in poverty - have the honor of serving in his country's military, have the opportunity to receive a college education, and eventually be bestowed with the privilege of serving the President of the United States?" asks Castillo. "Only in America."
The first in his family to go to college, David is currently a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones Investments.
David has also worked as the Public Affairs Coordinator for PACCAR, Inc., served as the Assistant Washington State Director for Citizens for a Sound Economy (Now known as FreedomWorks), and served as the Chief Operating Officer for iPolitics.com, Inc. -- an internet start-up company.
Before joining Edward Jones, Castillo served in the Bush administration at the Department of Homeland Security and was Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Department of Veterans Affairs, where he served as the principal advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Legislative Affairs.
In Washington State, David has worked in various capacities in the State Legislature, including as Chief of Staff to the House Republican Caucus and as a Legislative Assistant to House Minority Leader Richard DeBolt.

David is originally from Centralia, Washington and holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from the University of Washington and a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University.
He is a member of Rotary International, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the National Rifle Association and the American Legion. He is a veteran of the United States Navy.
Mr. Castillo and his wife Callie live in Olympia with their four-year-old son Caidan and dog Sophie.
